SP-I Muška
The SP-I Muška training glider was designed by Štefan Pleško and Rudolf Slamka. A single example was built at the aviation workshops below Straník.
Muška was one of our smallest training gliders. It was highly manoeuvrable, allowing a pilot to circle in very narrow thermals. It was very stable both laterally and longitudinally, making it suitable for conversion training. Its low weight made transport easy.
Muška was an all-wood, cantilever high-wing monoplane. Its approximately elliptical wing had Schempp-Hirth airbrakes. The main spar lay at approximately 30% chord. A plywood-covered torsion box formed the leading portion; the rear wing was fabric-covered. The 2.7-metre ailerons were attached by three hinges. Aileron controls used cables, with pushrods inside the fuselage.
The oval-section fuselage consisted of shaped bulkheads, four longerons and plywood skin.
